Meet Dr. Dawson
Dr. Derek Dawson is a skilled ophthalmologist in Munster, IN who specializes in the treatment of cataracts and glaucoma. He earned his medical degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN and served his medical internship and residency in ophthalmology at Howard University in Washington, D.C. He became the chief resident of the ophthalmology department in 1983 and was awarded Resident of the Year for the most outstanding physician in 1984. He became certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology in 1986.

Dr. Dawson has been providing top-notch medical and surgical eye care for citizens of Lake County Indiana for over 40 years. He has also served as a surgical consultant to multiple private practices in the Chicagoland region and currently provides ophthalmological services for the Illinois Eye Institute and the Illinois College of Optometry. Dr. Dawson’s mission is to continue to save and restore vision to those that are losing their sight.
